Address check (fixing address mistakes on orders) and how personal data is handled
You can check the shipping address of the orders selected on the order list for mistakes in the name, phone and address fields, and fix what is found on the spot.
How to use
- In “Orders” of “CSV”, select orders and press “Address check” above the table.
- In “1 Check the rows”, make sure the rows you want to fix are checked. The rows of “Orders that can be fixed automatically” are checked from the start. For the rows under “Needs review” the correct value is not known, so press “Edit” on the row, review the address and fix it directly.
- Press “Fix the order address (N)” in “2 Apply” at the bottom.
- A confirmation appears. Check “This rewrites the shipping address on N Shopify orders. It cannot be undone.” and the changes before and after for each order, then press “Fix N order addresses”.
When you apply, the shipping address of the Shopify order itself is rewritten. The new address is in the CSV as well. The fixed orders move to “Fixed orders”.
How personal data is handled
Names, addresses and phone numbers handled in Address check are treated as follows.
- They are stored neither on the app’s servers nor on the order. The servers of “CC Delivery Date & Time” hold no data for Address check.
- Detecting and fixing are done from the browser directly against Shopify. Names, addresses and phone numbers are not sent anywhere to check for mistakes.
- What remains on the order is only a mark of “whether it was fixed”. The date, the target and the names of the changed fields (e.g. “Changed fields: Phone”) remain in the app-owned metafield of that order. No values of names, addresses or phone numbers.
- The values before and after the change stay on the order timeline of Shopify. This is a Shopify feature.
- When a customer requests deletion of their personal data (a notification from Shopify), this app has no personal data to delete.
